The world is changing rapidly and this change puts responsibilities on all of our shoulders. As we all know, sustainability is no longer just a trend, but a necessity for future generations. At this point, the 17 Global Goals set by the United Nations guide us to build a fairer, sustainable and livable future around the world. So, what are these goals and how do we contribute to these goals?

What are the Global Goals?

1. 1. No Poverty: Creating a better future for people living in poverty.
   2. Zero hunger: Ensure that everyone in the world has access to sufficient and nutritious food.
   3. Good health and well-being: To provide the necessary conditions for everyone to lead a healthy life.
   4. Quality education: To provide quality educational opportunities to all children and adults.
   5. Gender equality: To combat all forms of discrimination against women and girls.
   6. Clean water and sanitation: To ensure that everyone has access to clean water and hygiene conditions.
   7. Affordable and clean energy: Increasing access to clean and affordable energy for people in every corner of the world.
   8. Decent work and economic growth: Creating decent work opportunities for all and sustaining economic growth.
   9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: Building the future with resilient infrastructures and innovative industrial projects.
   10. Reduced inequality: Reducing inequalities between societies and between countries.
   11. Sustainable cities and communities: Making cities more liveable, safe and sustainable.
   12. Responsible consumption and production: To leave a better world for future generations by using our resources responsibly.
   13. Climate action: Doing more together to tackle climate change.
   14. Life below water: To make marine life sustainable by protecting the oceans and seas.
   15. Life on land: Protecting forests, mountains and other terrestrial ecosystems.
   16. Peace, justice and strong institutions: Building strong institutions and justice systems for a more peaceful and just world.
   17. Partnerships for the goals: Strengthen global co-operation and partnerships to achieve these goals.

Our Contribution to Global Goals at Diem

We do not only design and construct buildings; we are also responsible for building a better world. In every project, we prioritise values such as sustainability, social benefit and environmental awareness.

• Green Building Certificates: We develop projects in international standards such as BREEAM and LEED. In this way, we ensure energy efficiency, protect water resources and use environmentally friendly materials. This is directly in line with the 7th and 11th objectives.
• WELL Certified Projects: WELL certification is a standard that aims to prioritise human health and well-being in the design, construction and operation of buildings. We evaluate this certificate in a wide range from indoor air quality, water quality, lighting to ergonomics. While increasing the health and comfort of employees, it also increases productivity. This shows that our approach is directly in line with Global Goals 3 and 8.
• Social Responsibility Projects: We cooperate with communities to carry out social responsibility projects in areas such as education and health. This is an important step towards goals 4 and 5.

The Global Goals are goals that each of us should work towards, not just governments or large organisations. We endeavour to achieve these goals at every step of our company and our employees. It is our common responsibility to leave a livable world for future generations.
