Today, July 24, 2025, marks the day humanity has used up all the natural resources the Earth can regenerate in a year:
Earth Overshoot Day.
Last year, this day fell on August 1.
This year, we’ve consumed our resources 8 days earlier.
What does that mean? It’s simple:
We are now consuming as if we had 1.8 Earths.

As humanity, we have long exceeded the limits of what nature can regenerate.
Forests are disappearing, soils are degrading, water systems are collapsing, and the climate crisis is worsening.
Scientists warn: even if we stopped all damage today, it would take at least 22 years for the planet to recover.
There are several critical reasons why this year’s Overshoot Day arrived earlier:
Global Footprint Network 2025, www.overshootday.org and www.footprintnetwork.org.
In our 2024 article titled Earth Overshoot Day and the Construction Sector, we highlighted the responsibilities of the industry.
This year, however, we are clearer:
Sustainability is no longer a bonus — it’s the baseline.
Global research shows:
Fosil yakıt kaynaklı emisyonları %50 azaltmak, bu tarihi 3 ay geriye çekebilir.
So is this a sacrifice?
No. It means healthy cities, efficient systems and a liveable world.
These are not solutions for the future, but for today.
Let’s not forget:
The greatest crisis isn’t resource depletion.
The real crisis is doing nothing.
Bugün bir fark yaratmak elimizde.
Her proje, her seçim, her malzeme bu tarihi değiştirebilir.
For a fairer, more resilient and greener future...
